My mission as a school counselor is to provide a comprehensive, data-driven program, closely following the ASCA Model, to address the academic, career, personal and social development of each and every student. I will provide both direct and indirect services to those labeled “at-risk” or "under-performing", those labeled "gifted and talented" and those who fall somewhere in between. Students of all identities, including but not limited to, race, class gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, will be treated with the utmost respect and appreciation. I will facilitate a respectful and a collaborative environment and advocate for students to assure that they acquire the knowledge and skills needed to reach their highest potential. I will work alongside stakeholders, including teachers, parents and guardians, administrators and community members, to develop and maintain the skills and support systems each child needs and deserves. Such skills and support systems will facilitate lifelong learning and productive citizenship regardless of the path they choose to follow. I will advocate for equity and work to eliminate any barriers that impede students’ academic success. I am a firm believer in lifelong learning and education. It is my prerogative to strive to stay up to date with the most recent information, research and data. Furthermore, I will seek constructive criticism and feedback to assure the most effective and highest quality program is in place.
